Lady Gaga, pop music icon, is currently playing her way through Bayonetta according to a tweet from the star earlier today.
The singer turned actress, whose recent turn in A Star is Born was met with heaped praise, has a history of dabbling in mediums outside of her music but this is the first time she has spoken about video games.
And of course, it’s for a game known for being outlandishly vivacious.

The chapter in Bayonetta that Gaga is referring to is the notoriously difficult The Cardinal Virtue of Fortitude, a colossal battle with the boss Fortitudo. While we have no indication of the platform on which Gaga is playing (I imagine she is a Switch gamer myself), Twitter has taken to the gaming confession in droves. Longtime fans of the superstar, affectionally dubbed Monsters by Gaga during her earlier years, have flocked to the Tweet to confess their confusion and joy at discovering the game. Bayonetta, as it turns out, is an incredibly fitting game for this fandom to discover – an empowered woman who utilises her gifts and sexuality to weave magic isn’t all that far off from the way Gaga fans see her.
Meanwhile, those familiar with games have also celebrated the Tweet with even a few memes cropping up in its wake. Some fans have asked if Gaga plays Fortnite, which of course spurred on a debate over the validity of the battle royale sensation, while others have suggested she try out Smash Bros Ultimate and other titles next. The whole thread is worth a read, especially if you’re looking for some examples of positive gamer engagement in the wake of this weekend’s Diablo insanity but below I have collected a few of the best responses for you to geek out over. I am particularly fond of the idea that Gaga should perform the theme song for the upcoming Bayonetta 3.
We can only wish Gaga all the best on her quest to become a less secretive gamer and eventually even beat the looming chapter V.
