Gamescom 2016 is now in full swing, and Resident Evil 7 has brought along a slew of new screenshots, as well as a spook-tacular new trailer showcasing some of the new gameplay systems. The trailer seems to be the real highlight, showing a woman desperately trying to escape from the demented Baker family, utilizing various elements in her environment to run and hide using a first-person perspective. We still don’t have a full idea of what to expect from Resident Evil 7‘s story, but at this point I think it’s safe to say it will be a decent departure from the over-the-top theatrics of the series’ sixth entry.
The screenshots themselves are also suitably creepy, giving players a peek at some of the assorted horrors to come, as well as the upcoming title’s admittedly stunning visuals. In the screens we can see shotguns, teddy bears, and a mysterious deranged figure, presumably the same one that originally scared players in the infamous “Kitchen” demo. Time will tell how she fits into the story though.
Resident Evil 7 was first revealed at E3 2016, and had a playable demo dropped alongside its announcement on PS4. Since then, the demo has been downloaded more than two million times, making it the most downloaded single-player demo on the system.
Resident Evil 7 makes its way onto PS4 on January 24, 2017. For all your horror survival and Resident Evil needs, be sure to stay tuned here at Ground Punch.
